Teabagging the Democrats

without comments

Well, I must say the GOP has grabbed ahold of the Libertarian Tea Party idea like a hungry animal…. not surprised, they’ve totally lost their way and are now looking for some kind of purpose or cause to stay relevant, not to mention under the presumed (by Dems at least) “leadership” of this moron. I must say though, it’s smart of Democrats to associate the leadership of their  political opponents with such a reactionary loud mouth.   Politics are dirty.

I don’t belong to either the Dems or the Republicans, nor would I want to associate myself with these political “Brands”. But it does concern me that the choices that most people adhere to ARE these Washington cartels…. and all this happens with as much  principled direction as a Macaroni and Cheese Brand campaign, rather than a serious movement.  Really - what do we believe in, America?  Is there any real coherence or principles in the wash of information, or are we all entirely lost?

My Consumer metaphor: Do you eat your Mac and Cheese because you’re told why its good, or - if asked - can you explain for yourself why it’s good?  I believe anyone serious about being a Republican or Democrat in 2009 are either 1) in a position of influence or 2) believe advertising.

Anyway, back to Anti-Tax protests.  I like this idea.  A lot.  Whether you think we are overtaxed or not, everyone has to admit that our tax code has gotten a bit ridiculous.  I also think the Fair Tax looks interesting.  I won’t even try to sound smart about this, but it looks like a promising idea and I would like to see it opened up for serious political debate. The current system is not working for us -  Businesses and individuals alike are forced to waste hours or money hiring people JUST to interpret the US Tax Code.  And what happens if you don’t?  More time wasted reviewing, correcting mistakes, possible audits and reviews.

Despite my annoyance with some in the GOP and FOX News using this as an anti-Democrat political tool, I’m glad that Tax reform has become mainstream and getting more public attention.  It’s time we can change to a tax code that does not discriminate, nor can be used to pander votes from Interest groups.   Fair and equal tax policy means a more fair and equal people, so I hope we can get to that point.   And I hope that the “Tea Party” helps solidify a real vision for America’s future and hopefully a real fiscal conservative party capable of reigning in the tax problems.
